• SOCIEDADE EUNICE WEAVER

 This organization only works with girls at risk. The children are left to their care during the weekdays and they return to their houses at the weekend. There are around 30 girls in the institution. They have remedial classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - The volunteer who applies to this institution will develop recreational activities with the kids during the established hours. This volunteer can work with arts as well. The NGO would like to have a choral formed by their children, so any volunteer who works with music for chorals is very welcome.

 
• LAR SEMENTES DO AMANHÃ

The NGO only assists boys from 5 to 14 years old. These boys have families, but they are in the situation of risk, and that's why they are put in the institution.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - Volunteers can work specially with recreational activities, art, culture and activities which could drive their learning process. The time of work goes from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Work can be done every day, and there is the possibility of up to three volunteers working at the same time, if the project presented by them is reasonable.

 
• ADEFAL

This NGO works with handicapped kids, teenagers and adults. They need volunteers who work in the medical area. Work can be done during the morning (from 7:30am to 11:30am) in the afternoon (from 1:30pm to 5:30pm) or in both shifts. A previous interview with the volunteer is required.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - Physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, medical assistants etc are welcome to carry on specific activities concerning work with disabled people.

• LAR SÃO FRANCISCO DE ASSIS

The institution takes care of about 70 elders. Most of these elders are men and women who have no family or whose families couldn't stay with them. Some are found on the street and taken there. The building comprises two wards, one feminine and another one masculine.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - This institution needs volunteers who work in the medical area: nurses, medical assistants, physiotherapists and doctors. Volunteers are going to develop activities concerning their areas and specifications.

 
• LAR DA MENINA

This NGO works as a shelter for girls who spend the whole week there. They sleep there from Monday to Friday, but on Saturday they leave to their houses. During the morning they study, but in the afternoon the project is open to receive volunteers.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - There volunteers can work with dance classes, arts, teaching English to the girls, recreational activities and handicrafts.

• ESCOLA ESTRELA DO MAR

This is a project that doesn't aim any kind of profit. It's an elementary school in the process of implanting a new grade every year. The kids who go there are from 6 to 7 years old and they live in the neighborhood.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - Volunteers can develop projects concerning arts, painting, English classes to kids, theater, music, yoga, ballet, jazz, karate, computer classes, natural medicine, telling fairy tales and fables to kids, dance classes, gymnastic, meditation and working with health professionals. Volunteers work from Mondays to Fridays from 2pm to 4 pm.

• CASA DE ADOÇÃO RUBENS COLAÇO

This is an orphanage house in Maceio. Kids are sent there by the State department of children and teens. The place is divided in two sectors, one with kids from 7 to 10 and another one (the nursery) with kids from 0 to 5. The first ones go to school during the morning and in the afternoons they stay at the orphanage to study, play and do other activities. The younger ones are always at the orphanage.

VOLUNTEERING POSSIBILITIES - Volunteers can work at one of the sector or with both. Working with the grown-up ones the volunteer may develop art, recreational or other type of educational activity. But if he/she prefers to work with the younger ones it will be basically changing diapers, giving them bath, and playing with those kids. Work can be done in two shifts, mornings or afternoons. (from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00).
